Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which Freedom Cleaning provides cleaning services to our customers. We have written them to be as clear and straightforward as possible.

Please read these terms before booking a service with us. If there is anything you do not understand or would like to discuss, please contact us before confirming your booking.

1. About Freedom Cleaning

Freedom Cleaning is a trading name used by Jacalyn Eggett, a sole trader, providing domestic cleaning and related cleaning services in Scunthorpe and the surrounding area.

Business address: 89 Moorwell Road, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN17 2SX
Email: info@freedom-cleaning.co.uk
Telephone: 01724 642042

VAT registration number: 402754812

In these Terms & Conditions, references to “Freedom Cleaning”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Jacalyn Eggett trading as Freedom Cleaning. References to “you” or “the customer” mean the person booking or receiving our services.

2. Our Services

Our services may include:

  • regular domestic cleaning;

  • one-off cleaning;

  • deep cleaning;

  • end of tenancy cleaning;

  • move-in and move-out cleaning;

  • new-build cleaning; and

  • other cleaning services agreed with you at the time of booking.

The exact work included in your service will depend on the service booked and anything specifically agreed with you.

If you require additional tasks or areas to be cleaned, please let us know. Additional work may require extra time and result in an additional charge. We will agree any additional chargeable work with you before carrying it out, unless the additional time is already covered by an agreed hourly charging arrangement.

3. Bookings

A booking is confirmed once we have accepted your request and agreed the service, property, date or frequency and price with you.

Bookings may be made by telephone, email, online booking or another method offered by Freedom Cleaning.

For regular cleaning services, your booking will normally continue on a rolling basis at the agreed frequency until you or Freedom Cleaning ends the arrangement.

There is no requirement to continue using our regular cleaning service for a fixed period. Our regular cleaning service is provided on an ongoing basis with no fixed-term commitment or minimum service period.

4. Prices and Payment

The price of your cleaning service will be confirmed before the service begins or will be calculated using the rate previously agreed with you.

Unless clearly stated otherwise, prices quoted to consumers are the total amount payable, including VAT where applicable.

Where a service is charged according to the time spent cleaning, the final charge may depend on the actual time required to complete the agreed work.

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods accepted by Freedom Cleaning and within the payment period shown on your invoice or booking confirmation.

If you believe an invoice is incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate it.

We reserve the right to suspend future cleaning appointments where an undisputed invoice remains overdue.

5. Regular Cleaning Appointments

We will make reasonable efforts to provide your cleaning service on the agreed day and at approximately the agreed time.

Occasionally, circumstances such as staff absence, illness, adverse weather, traffic or other operational issues may mean that we need to change the cleaner, arrival time or appointment.

Where reasonably possible, we will let you know in advance and arrange suitable alternative cover.

Although we aim to provide consistency, we cannot guarantee that the same cleaner will attend every appointment.

6. Access to Your Property

You are responsible for making sure that we can access the property at the agreed time.

Access may be provided by you or through another agreed arrangement, such as a key, key safe or authorised person.

Any keys, access codes or security information provided to Freedom Cleaning will be handled with appropriate care and only used for the purpose of providing your service.

If we cannot access the property as agreed, the appointment may need to be cancelled. Where this causes Freedom Cleaning a financial loss that we cannot reasonably avoid, a reasonable cancellation charge may apply.

7. Your Responsibilities

To help us provide the service safely and effectively, we ask that you:

  • provide safe and reasonable access to the areas to be cleaned;

  • ensure electricity, running water and other necessary utilities are available;

  • tell us about any damaged, unstable, delicate or particularly valuable items before cleaning begins;

  • secure cash, jewellery and other high-value personal belongings;

  • tell us about any surfaces or materials requiring specialist cleaning products or treatment;

  • tell us about known hazards within the property;

  • keep pets appropriately supervised or secured where necessary; and

  • treat our team members with courtesy and respect.

We may refuse to carry out any task that we reasonably believe could place our staff, customers, animals or property at risk.

8. Cleaning Products and Equipment

The cleaning products and equipment to be used will depend on the service agreed.

Where Freedom Cleaning provides products or equipment, we will use products we consider reasonably suitable for the work being undertaken.

If you require particular products to be used or avoided because of allergies, sensitivities, specialist surfaces or personal preference, you must tell us before the service begins.

If you ask us to use a product or piece of equipment supplied by you, you are responsible for ensuring it is suitable, safe and in reasonable working condition.

9. Delicate, Valuable or Damaged Items

Please tell us in advance about items or surfaces requiring specialist care.

This may include antiques, artwork, delicate ornaments, specialist flooring, natural stone, untreated wood or other unusual or high-value materials.

We will take reasonable care while working in your property.

We are not responsible for deterioration or damage resulting from pre-existing damage, normal wear and tear, inherent defects, unstable fixtures or items that have not been fitted or maintained correctly, except where our actions have caused or contributed to the damage.

10. Pets

We are happy to work in homes with pets, provided it is safe for our team to do so.

Please tell us about any pets that will be present during the cleaning appointment.

You remain responsible for your pets while we are at the property. If a pet may become distressed, escape, behave aggressively or interfere with the cleaning work, we may ask for the animal to be kept in a separate secure area while cleaning takes place.

11. Deep Cleaning and Heavily Soiled Areas

Deep cleaning and one-off cleaning can vary considerably depending on the size and condition of the property.

Any estimate of the time required is based on the information available to us when the booking is made.

Where the condition of the property is substantially different from what was described, or additional work is requested, more time may be required.

Where reasonably possible, we will discuss this with you before incurring a significant additional charge.

Some staining, discolouration, mould, limescale, ingrained dirt or deterioration may not be capable of complete removal through normal cleaning. We will nevertheless carry out the agreed service with reasonable care and skill.

12. End of Tenancy Cleaning

End of tenancy cleaning will be carried out according to the service and areas agreed with you.

Unless specifically included in your quotation, additional services such as professional carpet cleaning, external window cleaning, specialist stain removal, waste removal or other specialist work are not automatically included.

Although we aim to provide a high standard of cleaning, we cannot guarantee the return of a tenancy deposit because deposit decisions may depend on matters outside our control, including the condition of the property, damage, inventory requirements and the landlord or letting agent's assessment.

This does not affect your rights if our cleaning service itself has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill.

13. Cancelling or Rescheduling an Appointment

We understand that plans sometimes change.

Please give us as much notice as reasonably possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Where a cancellation is made at short notice and results in a financial loss to Freedom Cleaning that we cannot reasonably avoid, we may charge a reasonable cancellation fee reflecting that loss.

We will take reasonable steps to reduce any loss caused by a cancellation, for example by attempting to reallocate the appointment.

If we need to cancel your appointment, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and will offer to rearrange the service. If you have already paid for a service that we are unable to provide and an alternative appointment cannot be agreed, the appropriate amount will be refunded.

14. Your 14-Day Cancellation Rights

When you first arrange a cleaning service with Freedom Cleaning by telephone, online or away from our business premises, If you enter into a contract with us by telephone, online or away from our business premises, you will normally have a statutory 14-day cancellation period, unless an exception applies.

This statutory cancellation period is separate from our regular cleaning cancellation policy below. Freedom Cleaning does not require regular cleaning customers to enter into a fixed-term agreement or commit to a minimum period of service.

If you ask us to provide a cleaning service within the 14-day cancellation period, you are requesting that we begin providing the service before that period has ended.

If you then choose to cancel after we have started providing the service, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for any service already provided.

If you expressly ask us to begin providing the service during the 14-day cancellation period and the service is then completed in full, your statutory right to cancel will end once the service has been fully performed, provided you have acknowledged in advance that this will happen.

You can tell us that you wish to cancel by contacting Freedom Cleaning. You do not have to give a reason.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

15. Cancellation of Regular Cleaning

Our regular cleaning service is provided on a flexible, ongoing basis, with no fixed-term commitment or minimum service period.

You may end your regular cleaning service at any time by contacting Freedom Cleaning. Where possible, we kindly ask that you give us as much notice as reasonably practicable, as this helps us manage our cleaning schedules and team arrangements.

There is no minimum notice period for ending your regular cleaning service. Individual cleaning appointments that have already been scheduled remain subject to the cancellation and rescheduling arrangements set out in Section 13.

Freedom Cleaning may also end a regular cleaning arrangement by giving you reasonable notice.

We may suspend or end a service immediately where there is a serious safety concern, abusive or threatening behaviour, repeated inability to access the property, persistent non-payment or another serious issue that makes it unreasonable for the service to continue.

16. Quality of Service

Freedom Cleaning is committed to providing its services with reasonable care and skill.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your clean, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Where possible, we recommend contacting us within 48 hours because this gives us the best opportunity to investigate the issue and, where appropriate, arrange for the affected area to be inspected or cleaned again.

The 48-hour period is a request to help us resolve concerns quickly and does not limit your statutory consumer rights.

Where our service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill, we will work with you to provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your legal rights.

17. Damage and Breakages

We take care when working in customers' homes.

If something is accidentally damaged or broken by a member of our team, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can investigate.

Where loss or damage is caused by our negligence or breach of contract, we will deal with the matter fairly and in accordance with our legal obligations.

We will not be responsible for loss or damage that:

  • existed before we began the work;

  • results from ordinary wear and tear;

  • results from an inherent defect or weakness in an item;

  • arises because an item or fitting was already damaged, loose or unstable; or

  • could not reasonably have been foreseen or avoided.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or your statutory consumer rights.

18. Health and Safety

Our team members are entitled to work in a safe environment.

We may refuse, suspend or stop a cleaning service if we reasonably consider conditions at the property to be unsafe.

This may include, for example:

  • hazardous substances;

  • unsafe electrical equipment;

  • dangerous structural conditions;

  • excessive biological contamination;

  • needles or other sharps;

  • uncontrolled aggressive animals;

  • abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour; or

  • any situation presenting an unreasonable risk to health or safety.

Where specialist cleaning is required, we may recommend that an appropriately qualified contractor is used instead.

19. Our Team

Some specialist services may be carried out on our behalf by trusted third-party contractors or associates. Where this applies, we will make this clear when arranging the service.

Please do not arrange private cleaning work directly with a member of our team without first discussing this with Freedom Cleaning.

Any private arrangement entered into independently with an individual outside Freedom Cleaning is not a service provided, managed or insured by Freedom Cleaning.

20. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

Sometimes circumstances outside our reasonable control may prevent or delay a cleaning appointment.

Examples may include severe weather, road closures, significant transport disruption, emergency situations, utility failures or unexpected staff illness.

If this happens, we will contact you where reasonably possible and try to rearrange the service.

You will not be charged for a service that Freedom Cleaning does not provide.

21. Personal Information

We use personal information in order to manage bookings, communicate with customers, provide our services, process payments and operate our business.

Further information about how we collect, use and protect personal information can be found in our Privacy Policy.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our services, business practices or legal requirements.

Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms of a service that has already been completed.

For ongoing regular cleaning arrangements, we will give reasonable notice of any material change that affects your service. If you do not wish to continue following a material change, you may end your regular cleaning arrangement.

The latest version will always be available on our website.

23. Complaints

We want to resolve concerns quickly and fairly.

If you have a complaint, please contact Freedom Cleaning using the details provided above and tell us:

  • what has happened;

  • the date of the service concerned; and

  • how you would like us to help.

We will investigate the matter and respond as soon as reasonably possible.

Making a complaint directly to Freedom Cleaning does not prevent you from exercising any other rights or remedies available to you.

24. Your Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict or remove rights you have under consumer law.

Services supplied by Freedom Cleaning will be provided with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with the terms agreed with you.

Your statutory rights are not affected by these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you retain any legal rights relating to where you live and your right to bring proceedings in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.
